In this area you can visit the border hill tribes at their villages, including the Karen Long Neck, where the women wear metal bands around their necks in order to elongate them

    Wat Thaton

This beautiful budhist temple is in the town and is located on a hill, overlooking the Mae Kok river and the valley.

From here you can see the beautiful view of the valley for miles around.

The temple is open every day.

    Doi Mae Salong

This mountain has a temperate climate and is famous for its tea plantations, which fill the mountain sides.

The tea is sent to the rest of Thailand and exported around the world.

As well as the plantations, you can see where the leaves are made into tea and packaged.

You can also try these local teas and from China, at a tea tasting.

    Doi Ang Khang

This mountain is on the border between Thailand and Myanmar.

In the large valley under the mountain the altitude means that there is a subtropical climate all year around.

This allows the growing of special fruits that cannot normally be grown in Thailand, such as raspberries, peaches, plums and strawberries, and vegetables such as carrots, brussels sprouts, and peas, and many flowers such as roses and carnations .

    Thermal Mineral Springs

The hot mineral springs are created by geothermally heated groundwater in the granite rock below.

These generate the natural pools and geysers.

You can bathe in the hot mineral water, as it is good for your health, in public spa pools or hire your own private enclosed (man-made) pool.
So you should bring a bathing costume.
